After the setting off the mines at St Elois on March 27th, the Suffolks went into the front line, only to find that part of a trench on the right flank was still held by the Germans. Despite this, the bulk of their casualties were from persistent shelling until they were relieved and sent back to Reninghelst. On the 30th they lost 9 men, 2 named on the Menin Gate and the others buried in Voormezeele.
